
The Law Society of NSW is one of the largest legal associations in the world. It’s essential that an organisation representing more than 37,000 members, and entrusted with important regulatory responsibilities, continually monitors its performance and core purpose.
The Objects clauses in our Constitution (which I mentioned last month in relation to the work of our policy committees) lay the foundation for all the work we do on your behalf. While these core purposes have remained largely unchanged throughout our storied history, we have continued to evolve with the times.
The Council of the Law Society has recently approved and adopted a new Strategic Plan for the years 2025-2028 charting our path into the future. This plan is the result of considerable consultation and strategic thinking by the Council of the Law Society and its staff. It is informed by, among other things, an analysis of similar organisations throughout Australia and the world.
